Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lift passes, etc

Probably like most people, I book my lift pass, ski hire, etc when I book through the tour operator (Airtours, Neilson, etc). Is it cheaper to do it in resort instead?

jb1970, often it's cheaper in resort but just occasionally due to exchange rate fluctuations it might be cheaper with the tour op, these days you can often find resort pricing info on the internet for ski hire and lift pass costs so it's worth a look

jb1970, there were discussions about this topic on this site earlier this winter - a search herein will bring up the threads in question.

There's not usually much in it moneywise. Some T.O.s can dish them out in the coach during the transfers which can make life easier. Some do a beginners package incl. equipment hire, lift passes and ski school and these can be a very good deal - if you are a beginner.
One advantage of buying in a French resort is for an extra Euro or so per day you can also buy the Carre Niege at the same time. The get-you-off-the-mountain-and-into-hospital-free insurance card. Unless Brit T.O.s have changed in the last couple of years, I've never seen them offer the excellent and very cheap Carre Neige.
