Poster: A snowHead

Hi all
After hearing about how great skiing is from almost everyone I know, I have recently booked my (and my husband's) first trip to go in December 2011 (week before xmas), as we cannot make it this season. I got a great deal on a package with Crystal to stay at the E&G h/b, with hire and lessons etc, so am happy with all of that.
The problem is I am getting paranoid about there not being enough snow on the nursery slopes at this time of year. I know that the resort is fairly snowsure and have read reviews by people who have just got back and it all seems fine, but I would very much appreciate advice/experience from anyone re: conditions on the nursery slopes specifically at this time of year, as I am seriously considering incurring a small charge to go in March 2012 instead, but would be very sad to as I am really looking forward to it.
Thanks in advance!

Obergurgl is a high resort by Austrian standards and usually has good snow cover. It also has one of the best snow making systems as almost all of the slopes are equipped with snow cannons.
Of course there is an element of risk with skiing in December. But Obergurgl is a good resort choice and I'm sure the snow cover will be fine even on the nursery slope .
Have fun.

I booked it a week ago now on Crystal Ski's website, departing on 17/12/11 for 7 nights staying at E&G half board with Gatwick flights & transfer for £783 pp. My first time package was £265 pp (not including lift pass). The price has since gone up to around £850 pp but other websites are showing it for up to £1,200. Hope you manage to get in there quick!

Good choice of both Hotel and resort. I am sure there will be no problem with snow, we have been at Xmas for the past 12 years and have never had a problem. The Edelweiss is in a perfect location, you can literaly walk out of the boot room on to a lift and ski back to the door.

I went to Obergurgl on those dates in December just gone - The snow was excellent though it was unusually cold I think it went down to about -20.
We loved the resort and the skiing. Though we self-catered we did pop into that hotel for a 'warm up' during the evening- very swanky indeed.
We will certainly go back again.
