Just want to know if there is more telemarkskier on SnowHeads, it could be interresting to have advice from each other about Skis/boots, and so on, even if there is some event in europe, The big events like Stubaitelefest and Livingo, we all know about, but there is more in the alps,Pyrenees, Scotland and the Sibiliinis (Middle Italie)

Hello I am a Telemarker! Try www.tb3.ch for fun tele races here in The Valais region of Switzerland. 2 are held in the Portes du Soleil, Torgon and Les Crosets this season. Light hearted fun races with interesting themes, great prizes, and unique t shirts/ hats on entry!

plenty telemarkers in Scotland, been picking it up myself the past couple of seasons (and got new boots & bindings from Santa )
barry, I think scotland is good for not liftserviceskiing when it has dumped snow,, I have never been there in wintertime, but I have been there for summer randonée
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

there's quite a few; I can think of about 7 just off the top of my head (including the Team GB captain!), plus another brave few who've had a go (me included). I'm sure someone started a similar thread but it must have been ages ago - might be worth searching telemark as a thread title

I had my first tele lesson/taster the other week, and it was knackering and well hard learning curve, but great fun which has tempted me to look at a setup of my own

Freeheel, theres quite a few of us skiing here in England at the Pennine clubs and up at Raise in the Lake District, when we have the snow
Scotland is an excellent option for Telemark with great skiing on the slopes, off piste and cross country through the trees. There are specialist Telemark shops in Braemar and Aviemore and it is probably the friendliest place in Europe to ski too.

I'm a novice telemarker having had a couple of lessons in the UK and then having just got back from my first 10 days on tele in Austria!
Surprised how much I improved over the holiday...still LOTS of falling over but at least I was having fun doing it!
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I've just started to tele over here in Vermont, US. Lots of freeheelers over on this side of the pond, especially VT. I'm bringing my setup to Switz & Austria in less than 2 weeks! I've been alpining for 20years & I found the transition rather quick actually. I had a one day clinic & I could link some nice turns by the end of the day, although I'm certainly not completely comfortable yet & my balance is not what I'd like it to be. Hopefully 8 days in europe will help!!
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

I can endorse what Peter said - Scotland is a very friendy place to ski with lots of tele skiers at all levels. Was pleasantly suprised last year.
And Mountain Spirit in Aviemore stock a good range of tele kit, including NTN stuff. I am tempted..............................

ok
Skis; salomon foils with rottefella R8s (also have springs for R6s) (skis recycled from alpine- bindings taken from ebay skis- movement freeheels then sold on)
Boots; Scarpa T2X
Skis on top of wardrobe waiting for some second hand plate bindings (hammerheads, Bishops or Linken I think) - Line Prophet Flites (I have skins for Prophets the same size)
Home knit Llama wool hats - several- although they are metaphorical.
I usually tele when skiing with family for sociability/fun/interest but ski Alpine when off for the week with big boys. Have tried taking tele and alpine gear on family hols- but flying Liverpool- Geneva with; 4 pairs of skis, 4 pairs of boots, Mrs Ed, a push chair, a weeks supply of nappies and 3 kids is doable - but not pleasant. When th ekids can cope with the drive then will alpine and tele at will.

ed123, have a set of bishops kicking about doing nowt. Bought them second hand last year. In great condition apart from missing one of the climbing wires. Was going to just keep em for posterity but if you want them I'm sure we can make a deal. santa brought me shiny new ntn so the conversion is underway
Currently breaking my new liners in doing the hoovering! My garment Priestess NTN Boots had the worst liners known to man, bloody terrible seams over the ankle bones! So nice new Nordica Speedmachine liners seem to have solved the problem.....Out to bust some more turns tomorrow without the Hoover!!!!

geoffers, Trust me, it does work but the learning curve is a bit of an overhang . . . just don't start out on frozen crust . . . rear foot needs to be set out a few degrees to be comfortable.
