Got a Tog 24 hard shell jacket for hill walking back in the summer, seems to be a match for my big brand stuff in terms of construction and performance and was a bit cheaper,

They have several outlet shops too, one not too far from you at Hatfield Galleria. They had some stuff at good prices when I went before Christmas. I don't think I'd pay "full price" though.

not a brand I particularly like (not cool ) but their light fleeces are really good and have the magical ability to be warm in winter and cool in summer !

ItsSnowJoke, I got my daughter a really nice pair of trousers in there but they were still £80 (ladies S down from £120). They did have some really nice Gore Wind Stopper Soft Shells too, down to about £60 (from £150+) but not in my size. They do have some bargains but generally not that cheap.

I got a great Tog 24 ski jacket from TKMAXX a couple of years ago that was soooooo cheap it was worth buying and storing for a few years until my eldest grew into it. It looks good stuff, she hasn't worn it yet, but at only £8 (Yes - £8!) I didn't think I could go wrong.

Had one of their polartec lightweight fleeces a few years ago, excellent bit of kit.

If I did that I'd probably lose it in the attic somewhere till she was too big to wear it! Sounds a good idea if you are sufficiently well organised though.

Can't comment on their waterproofs, but I use a Tog24 backpack for skiing - I'd say it was ok quality, but nothing special. I also had a random hoodie from them that lots its shape first wash...so in short wouldn't particularly recommend them, but if they're cheap enough why not?

i have found their milatex to be great stuff, my 4 kids have all been clad in it for rainy walks, camping, skiing and it has been up to the job. Importantly never had a rip or zip malfunction. They reproof well with spray. i would decribe the tog stuff as mid price. I would ignore their rrp's though. Check out the tog e-store to sound out prices.

Their stuff is OK at 25%-50%-ish sale prices, wouldn't pay top $ for it though.
Had one of their fibrepile jackets 20+ years ago; ended up in the dog bed.
Many years later bought one of their fleece bodywarmers.
Seemed bomb-proof, until a friends puppy chewed some of the teeth out of the zip.
Conclusion: dogs seem to rate TOG24 kit ...
They have an outlet shop in Ambleside, which seemed to be 25%-50% most stuff ( Ambleside, TOG 24 - Unit 4, Market Cross, Ambleside, Cumbria, LA22 9BT, 0845 389 1830 )
bit of info/history... wrote: |
In the early 1980’s the company bought the TOG 24 brand. Products supplied initially were fibre pile jackets, but the company soon diversified into Polartec® fleece and GORE-TEX® jackets, many of which are still produced in the company’s Heckmondwike factory. Specialist cold weather equipment has been produced in our factory for the renowned Arctic explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes and for numerous subsequent expeditions all over the world, to a variety of destinations, including Everest. TOG 24 is now also the official cold weather clothing supplier to the Team GB Luge team.

We used to be near Bicester Village and my kids have been Togged head to toe at very reasonable prices since they started skiing. Always been very impressed with their stuff. There's a Helly Hansen at Bicester Village which I've bought from too and though the Tog 24 stuff isn't generally as cool-looking, it works better which is what I care about. We're still buying Tog 24 stuff, but over the internet now.

I had a pair of ski trousers of theirs - again from an outlet type shop- I got bored of them (blue camo design) before they wore out....
I'm a fan of trespass gear from TK Maxx - often better quality and 'features' than much pricier names....

All the TK Maxx Trespass stuff is 2k or at best 5k rated waterproof/breathability.
Maybe i have been suckered in by the high end stuffs marketing on these ratings?
Im sure nobody has died from hypothermia and/or pneumonia from wearing a 2k rated jacket and pants.
The seasoned skiers im going away with do keep asking me if im going via the north pole when i bring these things up

ItsSnowJoke, All I can say is I've never been cold ,got wet or suffered with lack of breathabilty , though I'm a layers fan , rather than just a t shirt under my jacket type..... I've got new trespass stuff when got fed up of it , rather than worn it out - with the exception of one pair of trousers that i ripped on a lift ....

I've noticed tog have quite a few ski jackets;
Was it any of these one's? In my experience TOG24 have always came up trumps, I'd say about 70% of my ski clothing comes from TOG. I've just bought myself a new pair of TOG24 salopettes this christmas - can't wait to use them!

I have a pair of very lightweight tog 24 goretex salopettes which have now done 4 or 5 years of 3 to 4 week holidays and a full season that are still going strong although a little faded on the thighs now. Along with the £7.00 Head gloves from costco they were far and away my 'best buy'

pjs, were they these ones by any chance? http://www.estore.tog24.com/Mens_Ski%20Pants%20and%20Salopettes/REGAL.html
I want a pair of gore tex salopettes, but not seen any reviews and don't want to be spending £250 like most cost without knowing how good they are. £95 wouldn't be so bad though.
It doesn't take a lot to persuade the OH to go on a short trip to Bicester or the Galleria, so maybe I should just go to the outlet store for a look.

Just got back from a week in Chatel where I wore my new Tog 24 Goretex Jacket (£149 plus free inner jacket or gillet) and can't speak highly enough about the quality.
I've been a dedicated TNF and Salomon fan for many years but have become fed up with the prices being charged these days and looked for an alternative good quality solution. I'm now planning to replace my Salomon saopettes with the Tog 24 vewrsion at the end of the season ready for next year.
The service in the Manchester Fort shop was brilliant too.

I have to say I can't get very excited about clothes (as my wife can confirm!), and I find cheap stuff from places like TK Maxx & GO do me very well. My ski jackes is HH from Bicester Village and quite old now, but going strong.

I had one a few years ago with which I had no problems. I'd rate them as decent mid-range quality.
