Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anybody been there, any accommodation recommendations, also how easy is it to get to the area were the snow monkey's are. Any advice gratefully received.

radar, been there, but quite a few years ago now. It's a big area I remember that and snow was great. Not super keen on people going off piste, though that might have changed.

I stayed at the Shiga Kogen Prince South which is right on the ski slopes, ski in ski out. Rather corporate, but very handy and comfortable.

It's not too far to get to the monkey's at Yudanaka in terms of distance, though I'm quite quite sure how you would do it...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

nozawaonsen, thanks for the recommendation Mrs R is now thinking of two centre and adding in Zao, have you been there?
we are also staying in Tokyo for a few days, should be interesting to see the reaction of the taxi driver as we attempt to put a couple of pairs of ski's in Very Happy

Zao is fun too. You'll have seen the pictures of snow monsters I'm sure! Some great rotenburo and izakaya if I remember correctly. Was very snowy and I had quite a bit of sake... Will try to dig out some details... Tokyo cabs and skis could be quite interesting. If you are flying to Narita incidentally get the train into town, taxi price would be huge and take ages... Rather a good ski shop just opposite exit to Harajuku. Moving skis about might be easier with Takkyubin...

nozawaonsen, thanks any recommendations on accommodation and eating / drinking venues very welcome. We are going to start with Zao and then go on to Shiga Kogen, we will need to take a cab from Yamagata up to Zao as the train gets in after the last bus, so will need to find a cab company. Good call on the ski's will look to use from Shiga to Tokyo.
