Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Morzine Lift Pass - advise please

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Ski Mad People! - Glad it's not just me!

We are coming to Morzine next week Very Happy and I've been pricing up ski passes online.

If we buy in advance for the Morzine / Les Gets pass we can save €43 but I can't find out the cost to upgrade daily as and when to a Porte de Soleil pass.

Does anyone have any idea what it would be?

My problem is that we are staying near to the Super Morzine lift but I dont think this is included in the Morzine pass - I've really struggled to find out on the web and I'm tearing my hair out. Shocked

Please help!!!

Also is there anywhere that does ski storage near the lifts if we decide to go for the Morzine pass and make our way across town. I've never used the ski bus but that may be an option. Puzzled Puzzled Puzzled

I'd just get the whole PDS area 6 day pass. Price isn't significantly more, and you can stop stressing out about it. You will want it, and by the time you've topped up your pass for a couple of days area passes you'll spend exactly the same. From memory it was about £20 per day to upgrade, vs £35 difference. Very approximate numbers, but it worked out cheaper if we did more than 1 day to get the week pass for whole area.

Honestly, why would you store your skis somewhere and get a bus across town twice a day when you could just pay another few quid to make your holiday so much easier and more relaxed. You've spend hundreds to go on the trip, spend the tiny bit extra to make it a whole lot better.

I've looked at prices and, for 5 days Morzine/Les Gets for 1 adult and 1 child, I see the same prices on numerous web sites, but no discount when I try to book online. Are discounts only available on PDS passes?

I agree with Monium - plus you will get bored in Morzine / Les Gets if you are more than a beginner ............ get the whole PDS passs from day one you'll love it - its worth paying more ..........

Monium,

Quite right about spending a bit more but unfortunatley there are 14 of us in 4 separate accommodations and they are keen to just get the Mozine pass which I never even considered when we booked our hotel!!! And I made sure we we near a lift. FRUSTRATED! Shocked

Next time - I'm organinzing it all!!!

Think we will prob go for the PDS pass like you say though.

Thanks!

JimG2009,

Hi

I think it was a minimum of 6 days for the discounted pass for Morzine. But no discount for the PDS pass.

You'll have to price it up on 6 days and it may work out cheaper to pay for an extra day. Confused But the websites are not the easiest to be honest.

Thanks

waterskibabe,

Super Morzine & Avoriaz/Switzerland are not included in the Morzine/Les Gets passes. As everyone else is saying, spend the extra as you will love that side (you will definitely be bored of just Morzine/Les Gets after day 3!)

Who did you all book your accommodation through as sometime your accommodation provider give you some sort of a discount if they get them for you?

Just tell your friends they are fools if they only get Morzine/Les Gets passes only as you;ve been speaking to locals and they've advised better. If none of you are beginners you will definitely want PDS passes so you can pop into Switzerland and Chatel where sometimes the queues are even smaller and the area better!

Give me a shout if you need a hand with anything else!

Agree you do want the PdS passes but to answer another part of your question.

If you are near the Super Morzine lift there is a daft little train that takes you across town to Plenney lift but was busy when we were there. So you don't have to walk. Also it is not designed for a 6ft tall person to get in ! Not that bad a walk but we never found any lockers. I carried walking shoes in rucksack others just walked in boots. Plenty of anesthetic drunk on the way back so they never felt a thing.

If you are staying on the other side of the bridge from the Super Morzine then you can get the bus that goes up that road. We took the bus out to Ardent (most days) and went up there into the main skiing (Swiss) which was quick and easy. Super Morzine whilst it looks sensible, takes ages on greens to get to Avoriaz and the decent skiing. Not to mention getting back. The Cable car out of Avoriaz and bus back is another quick option back to town.

Les Gets was Ok but busy and slushy when we went in March. Do get over to the Nylon area as that was great skiing

Hope you have fun getting 14 people organised up and onto any lift !

waterskibabe, Are 14 of you going to be skiing together all the time? I would get a small group of the more adventurous skiers together, each get a PDS pass and head off up the Super Morzine as a smaller group. I'll also be there next week and will be heading off to Avoriaz on most days.

Thanks for the excellent advice. I was getting slightly stressed that I'd booked accommodation in the wrong area but it sounds like its in the right spot.

I'm sure we'll have a fab time I'll just have to kick their butt into a PDS pass!!!

Drluvski, If you see 14 dalmations skiing down the slopes that'll be us!!! Blush
