Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Remoulding Plastic Shells

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The outside edge of my left foot is 1 - 2mm wider than it used to be, due to chipping the bone (note to self: stand much, much further away from steel cables when released under tension ...)

As a result my left boot is now to narrow, and its buggering up the fit.

My question is:

Can I get the shells remoulded to fit ?

My boots are 5+ year old Scarpa Denali XT. The plastic still seems to in good condition, and flexible.

Someone had suggested to me that the plastic continues to 'cure' over the years, and might not take to being heated up and re-moulded.

I hasten to add this person was a chemists (who worked in petrol-chemical plastics many years ago), not a ski boot specialist !

Yes, contact a boot fitter, they'll move the side for you, within reason.

snow_muncher, good outcome!
My right foot is wider - I have that boot widened.
It came like that - I didnt remodel it (my foot) - I did run away from steel cable released under tension - when I was 18 I was loading an oil platform in Scotland and a haul cable parted - no injury to me or others, but the cable was fat...would have caused more damage than a foot widening.
