 Poster: A snowHead

With the recent snowy conditions here in the UK, I was wondering about getting a pair of snow blades for a little ski fun on my own doorstep. I wondered if anyone had any advice. Are they any good? Are they suitable for a beginner to intermediate? I've noticed Salomon & Head do them. Has anyone tried these or any other makes?

EvanSPS, I think you might struggle with blades on un-pisted snow in the UK. Being so small they are not very floaty so you'll probably be running on the grass rather than the snow. If you are lucky enough to have a nice groomed piste on your doorstep they are great fun.
Not suitable for a complete beginner as they are a pig to snowplough but are an excellent tool for learning to carve and for an intermediate skier they are a fun diversion for a day or two.

As Dorset Andy has suggested you would probably be better buying some cheap full size ski's on ebay or somewhere (you can pick a set of old piste skis up for next to nothing) they will be a lot easier to use on the type of snow you are likely to find than blades.
Plus you won't look like a turnip

Thanks all. I think that's exactly the type of advice I was hoping for. I'll keep my eye out for a cheap pair of skis.
