Thanks

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

One long (20 minutes +) gondola ride takes you to Meribel. You have to take the lift up at the start of the day, and back at the end of the day. Pray you don't forget your goggles!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

jb1970, I would pay extra and stay up the mountain. The Gondola adds 1 boring hr to your day. Brides has always been dark and dingy when I have visited (should add that this was only once )

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

As per Frosty the Snowman, & rob@rar.org.uk, Brides is miles away down the valley and you'll waste half your day commuting up&down.
You also need to know you're not gaining anything pricewise by staying down the mountain.
There's perfectly price-comparable accomodation on the snow line in Meribel/Mottaret, or to the left in La Tania/Courch or to the right in St Martin, or even the satelite villages on the gondola link further up towards Meribel, like Les Allues or ...the other one I can't now recall.... It's simply NOT necessary to plump for Brides in order to get the best deals!!!
Sorry for the rant. Otherwise there's nothing wrong with Brides. Perfectly good spa town.

Manda,
I would just add that if your dates are restricted, your budget is tight, and you are looking for a last minute deal around our mid February school holidays, Brides could fit the bill.

DAVID SNELL, Absolutely. I've only been there in the spring, but thought it was great. Of course if you're looking for night life that's another thing ........
