Poster: A snowHead

My wife has landed a job today at the Turin Olympics (volunteer) during the first two weeks of February. Just wondered if there where any other Snowheads planning on going at the same time to work or watch ?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Nope, I'll be anywhere but during the event. There'll be great quiet and inexpensive vacations everywhere else and the bars will be showing the day's events all evening so you’ll miss little.
If you want to see proper skiing heroes and enjoy a real party in the true spirit of the Games, go the Paralympics 10-19 March.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Frosty, I have applied to be a volunteer during the Paralympic events (March) , but I haven't heard anything yet. We won't even be in Serre Chevalier during Feb.

Have you seen the double amputee Sth African sprinter in the (summer) athletics. I suspect he may break the ablebodied 200m record. Respect

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Sorry Frosty, that sounded like an insult, none intended and I'm certain she'll have a great time (you going too?) and be a valuable part of the experience

Masque, I'm hoping our apartment will benefit form the close proximity of Serre Che to the Olympic ski events, and it's always heaving there in Feb anyway. I think we may be at home in Feb but back out there in March.

Frosty, I have just had a phonecall a few minutes ago. Have offered my services for 2 weeks, but not quite sure what yet. They are e-mailing the details
Apparently I have to go to Turin for training too.

I'm glad to learn that the winter paralympians don't indulge in the cheating which their summer chums do.

snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

richmond, I do find some of the Summer disablement categories a bit odd and there's been some serious ethical breaches, but I'm not sure I've heard of much (if any) probs in the Winter games. Imagine having to ski in a permanent white-out or with missing limbs.
The other reason for going is the security is wound down the parties are a LOT better and prices tend to revert down to their normal levels of extortion.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

richmond, thats what I've volunteered for , the Paralympics. Frosty, as a pharmacist, we can be part of drug testing team, but who knows.

Helen Beaumont, not a sausage but I have tried to ring the number back that rang me and its automated in speedy Italian that I don't understand (probably press one for customer services or two for complaints that sort of thing). I suspect they just have a large number of volunteers to process
