Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

moosty, welcome to Snowheads. snowHead There isn't a problem that I know of - there's a "walk through" between the sectors - airport information can direct you to it - it's not terribly clearly signposted and easy to miss if you're not on the right level. It's much more obvious from the french side, because it's so much smaller.

However, Geneva airport does have a way of springing surprises, so maybe there is some recent change which has made things more complicated. Are you thinking of after you've dropped your car, on the way home?

I think easyJet has a check in on the French side (they used to) though BA might have dropped theirs (I had major problems with BA in the French sector once and nearly missed a flight as a result).

moosty, from the airport's website:

"Arrivals

If you have hired a car in the French sector, you can reach the French sector, even if you land in the international one.

How to proceed? At your arrival:

1. pass through the passport control;
2. pick up your luggages;
3. go out in Swiss side like the others passengers (arrival level);
4. go upstairs to the check-in level to reach the French side;
5. cross the customs (on the right of the check-in hall, near the Air France KLM desks). Attention: you necessarily have to show your contract for car hiring.

Departures

For departure, you can bring back your car to the French side, do your check-in there (except for British Airways and Continental) and reach the international sector via the transit area."

For Easyjet you can no longer check in on French side. You can only check in on Swiss side now

Geneva airport has not made things easy for those who wish to use it but visit France.

Although Switzerland are not in the EU they seem to be afforded many of the same benefits as EU countries i.e. they can use the EU immigration channels at UK airports.

Maybe they need to have their lives made a bit harder by the EU countries to encourage them to be a bit more flexible to their friends Laughing

When did that happen?
The last time I was there it was still possible to check in using the self service machines and drop your bag off with the easyjet baggage handlers on the French side.

Geneva French/Swiss keeps springing these sorts of surprises. After the complete foul-up BA made when I tried to check in on the French side, when they still had a desk there, I'm not surprised they changed but easyJet seemed OK.

Can anyone else confirm that you can no longer check in with easyjet on the french side, even with the self service machines.

Villz, presumably you can drop your car at the French side and then walk through the "magic door" to Switzerland though?

Villz, You are right. You can now only use the easyjet self service machines and baggage drop off for easyjet flights to the French sector, the sign above the machines indicates this has been the case since October 2009. Shows how observant I am.

As brian mentions it is still possible to walk through to the Swiss side and check in / drop your baggage off there.

Switzerland is party to the Schengen agreement Smile but yes, the Swiss are somewhat "special"!
