We are going to go to Val Thorens for the long weekend at end April 29th April - 2nd May for a last bash weekend thanks to Wills and Kate giving us a day off work, and have booked flights via Geneva but am struggling to find accommodation for myself and my wife. We will arrive by hire car late on 29th and intend to ski all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday flying back late on the Monday, and are happy to drive up and down from St Martin de Belleville if necessary -the only place I can find online is megabucks at the hotel Novotel in Val Thorens, 350 EUR per night..... must be the Dick Turpin suite!!
Can anyone offer any advice, or hire us a vacant bedroom in their chalet etc for the weekend?

Markymark29, The reason you're struggling in VT is that it's Dutch week. The resort gets swamped by an invasion from the Netherlands, starting on the 30th this year.
It's the week after the EOSB and they arrive in resort just as we are leaving, loaded up with beer and the party starts.

Markymark29, you could try Rob and Alison in Saint Martin: http://www.alpage.co.uk/index.htm lovely chalet, lovely people, great food. They are officially closed by then, but they might be happy to let you have a room for the weekend, or know someone else with vacancies....

Thinking of now looking at Tignes for end April weekend because of lack of accomodation in VT, think it closes on 1st May - does anyone have much experience of skiing Tignes at this time, are there plenty of runs to go at.................or are we better off in Val Thorens?
