Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What to do in Chamonix?

 Poster: A snowHead

Seem to be a few on here off to Chamonix or just back, so as a vigin wink heading there on the 19th for a long week end, I (and I'm sure anyone else heading that way) would appreciate any tips on what's good, bad and unmissable. Obviously I'm not heading out there for the park, but I'm not out for anything crazily steep either, so any tips on finding the next best powder would be nice (Assuming the best (Grands Montets?) will be tracked out by the pros while I'm still on the lift.) I've also read pros and cons about riding the vallee blanche. Just how flat is the bottom section when you're on a board and for how far?

Finally, and just for me, I'm going with a couple of skiers, so does anyone know whether the guide companies do mixed groups?

Thanks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

They do mixed groups, we've often had a skier guide us about. You'll be humbled by there abilitys anyway!

Le Tour has some great gulley's which lend themselves to natural quarterpipes and big powder fields which if it's dumped in the last couple of days you should get some lines in patchy undistubed snow! Some good off piste runs down to Vallorcine side and you can hop on to train back to Cham town, but avoid the other side where you drop into Swiss territory (you'll see a lot of fresh lines from the back lift, very few touch it for a reason!).

Don't know your levels, so don't treat Chamonix like everywhere else...it's a long way back to the valley floor if you drop below the lifts! Having said that at Brevent/Flegere look at the lines others have taken, watch some others take ther lines, then one by one have your go...but don't push it!

Having reread you opening post, on your first trip on a long weekend you won't even explore every area...let alone get a guide!
