Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I've skied a set of Elan Speedwave 14s for the last 2 seasons and have found them to be a good alround ski, found them to be solid when going fast and suptle enough for playing in the moguls, seem to work in the powder too, but I've never used proper offpiste skis to compare them to.
That all said they're not the best skis I've ever skied on and don't hold an edge on ice as well as or are as smooth through changeable conditions as my brothers Salomon crossmax W12s that I've had a play on a few times. But they were half the price and are more than half the ski Laughing

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Elan race skis are very well respected. I have skied a few of them and they are very precise, hold an edge solidly and have an accessible flex pattern relative to several of the alternatives.

SCOOBY52, is there any particular reason that you want Elan skis? I have a couple of pairs (a slalom pair and another pair which are a little bit wider) and while I like them a lot I'm not sure they are noticeably better than any other particular manufacturer's skis.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

That's the best reason for buying skis IMO, and the over-ridng criterion when I'm deciding what to get. I don't think there are many bad skis out there, so if Elan have a ski in the category that you're looking to buy I think you should go for it if the price is right.

i'm so out of touch with ski's, so not sure who a making hot ski's at the moment, haven't been on a pair for around 9yrs !!!!! but with the cost of hiring high end ski's i may be better off buying my own !
