I'd tell them to check they have the skis and boots the hire shop gave them - I've had several instances of both adults & children going out with someone elses skis and only finding out when they try and put them on, often at the top of a gondola with a long trip back down to try and find the correct pair. This particularly happens when several people have same model skis - tell them to put the ski id number into their mobile phone. This is also useful when they come out of a restaurant/bar and pick up any random pair which bears a resemblance to the ones they were given in the hire shop.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There you go. Cheap ski lock on eBay out of Hong Kong. Perfect defence against such mistakes.

blizt, Or tell them to take a photo of the skis plus number with their mobile phone. Avoids mistakes and it's easier too.
BTW I do that with my luggage at airports too just in case it gets lost and I can't even remember what colour it is!

It's Whisky, not whiskey!!! (if you're talking 18 year old single malt anyway). Although a hip flask of JD would do in a pinch.
Snow Bunnies. |
Just to be technical, Brits/Scots call it whisky, yanks call it whiskey, but JD is always welcome =)
I got me some Tobermory 10 year old for Les Arcs in Feb =)
