Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Self explanatory.....and rather alarming Sad :

Is it too late for the snowHead fraternity to lobby for closure outside of the ski season?

The press love their glencoe doomed headlines.
Dont worry - Glencoe is alive and kicking

Even if the roadworks happen Jan - April 2012 (unlikely) then it still only a 20/30 minute detour via Callander.
A mild inconvenience - but not end of the world.

This time though the story isn't in the press imagination and the quotes came from the horses mouth so to speak. Most people will follow the official diversion which will go over the Rest and be Thankful because protocol apparently states that such major diversions of a trunk road should follow trunk roads.

Once is likely to be enough before people start dissipating to Glenshee and CairnGorm. More generally though there needs to be a stop to this growing culture in Transport Scotland, Transerv and Bear that major rural trunk road availability in the North and West of Scotland is as and when it suits them. Some of the recent overnight closures are getting absurd - such as the A82 in Fort William that cut the town in half for 10 hours at a time, and some where the roads are closed from 7pm to 7am with no alternative route for local traffic. It's getting out of hand, sense finally prevailed over closing the A82 through Glencoe completely for 6 months, so hopefully it will again this time.

Unfortunately for Glencoe the split from East to West isn't very favourable!
