We are looking for a weekend of skiing in December. Can anyone recommend any glacier resorts for early December (flying in to Geneva)?
Thanks

Espace Killy is due to open 27 November. Snowgods being willing there will be much more than just glaciated terrain available.

Mrs johnboy, Zermatt and Saas Fee are 2 glacier options doable by train (3h30) from Geneva. Verbier (2h30 train + gondola/bus/taxi) is a closer option that has opened at weekends from the start November for the last 2 seasons. Val Thorens is another good early season option although you'd probably need to hire a car to get there (2h30 drive). Chamonix (1hr minubus transfer) will also be open and is probably your closest option. As per recommendations above Val d'Isere/Tignes (2h30 drive) is another good option although you would probably also need a car for the transfers. The resorts will be far from full that early so you can leave your choice until the last minute and choose your resort based on where the most early season snow has fallen....
Here's some pics from last year:
1st December weekend in Val Thorens http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=58169&highlight=
2nd December weekend in Zermatt http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=66192&highlight=
Early December conditions were even better the year before. Fingers crossed for this year!

It looks like Zermatt or Chamonix will be the most convenient options by train from Geneva so will follow up those two options.
Haven't been to Chamonix before so not sure where would be best to stay in early December to access as much skiing as possible - any suggestions are welcome.

johnboy, if you're looking for "glacier" in the sense of "snowsure" rather than the "gnarly falling down crevasse" stuff, there are probably better options than Chamonix - I think only the Grand Montets is open before the general resort opening date of 18 December. What a shame that mountainsun are fully booked. I wonder if they'd do you a transfer for a reasonable price - there would be plenty of beds available in Tignes, which would give you much greater variety of piste skiing with quite likely no need to go anywhere like as high as the glacier.
