Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New Zealand summer 2011

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello all,

I am looking at joining a friend who is traveling the world, hoping to join in the new zealand leg, get a van drive down or up the islands and get some skiing in while there. I currently live in Amsterdam, but am looking for the cheapest way to get from europe to new zealand, without swimming! I did try some price comparison sites but wandering if I would get a better price going somewhere first as I know amsterdam is expensive compared to some other airports, so maybe back to the UK first then start the long haul flight?

Also wandered about taking ski's and boots etc, is it worth it for the extra prices?

Hope someone can give me some pointers

Which month(s) are you thinking?

The Rugby World Cup is in NZ next Sept and October and van hire during those months will be difficult.

Re: gear, it depends how many days you intend skiing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You need to Login to know who's really who.

Then you should be OK with vans.

Take your skis and boots. 3-weeks of rental will be expensive.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

wouldn't bother with the north that early in the winter, south will probably be a lot more fun. better scenery and friendlier people too wink

Go north in spring for better conditions.

have a look at www.trademe.co.nz for some cheap transport, and if you're going to do more than 7 days, get an early bird pass in march from www.chillout.co.nz or www.nzski.com - chillout if you can handle the lifts and access roads, nzski if you want commercial.
