there's one big long blue from top to bottom, a fair few blues lower down and apart from that mostly reds of various gradients, some of which would be fine for a blue piste skier...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks guys. I had missed the Via Lattea website and the better quality map. I sent them an email with a request for offers.

I stumbled across www.sestriere-online.com which has some good info on the resort. It also has a hotel search facility which by the look of it allows you to book online too. The piste map however still leaves a little to be desired.

We went in 2006, just before the olympics so the olympic apartments were being used for their origional purpose, but they may be a good SC option.
Hotel wise, the Hotel du Col had a great location, rooms ok, food ok.
Enjoy.

have you checked out http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g194919-Sestriere_Piedmont-Hotels.html ?
I know TA can be a bit of a pain as there is always a few people who find each hotel dire but you have to take some of these reports with a pinch of salt and look for the underlying sentiment. Also worth filtering out some of the bad reports by type. i.e. if a hotel is supposed to be good for young people often the worst reports are from older people and vice versa.
