Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A new study has reported that at least 11% of of athletes taking part in the 2010 Winter Olympics were injured. The incidence of injuries varied considerably between sports, with the risk of sustaining an injury being highest for bobsleigh, ice hockey, short track, alpine freestyle and snowboard cross....See: http://www2.macleans.ca/2010/09/08/one-in-10-athletes-injured-during-2010-winter-olympics-study/

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

And how many more had to pull out of the event before hand due to injury and illness too I wonder?

I also wonder how those stats compare to summer Olympic events?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Interesting that Bobsleigh is high risk while Luge is rated low risk.
Ok, higher speeds are involved, but they are both sliding sports, so surely must have similar risks.

Richard_Sideways, i think the death of an athlete in the days before the olympics started may have skewed the stats.

Actually it didn't. The guy killed was a luger and including his accident, less than 1 in 20 lugers required medical attention through injury or illness, one of the lowest levels for events in the games... Think this article is possibly saying more about using a somewhat spurious statistics to show 'risk' than anything about the sports involved.

Lies, damn lies and statictics and all that.
