anyone here subscribe to powder mag?
and, do you get paper copies or the digital version. i'd quite like to get the paper version, but it's quite expensive as an international subscription.

other option is to go for the digital version... anyone done it and what's your feelings on what you get for your money?

Do a search on here....I found an ultra cheap subscription link last year for Powder (via TGR).
I posted it as a PSA at the time.
Just noticed this is my 2000th posting here....have I really nothing better to do?!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

shoogly, lots of ski porn, little decent content. Freeze (if it still exists) is better.

shoogly, I've just stopped getting it delivered, pics are the best especially the annual photo special but the content is pretty w@nk, I think it survives on it's past reputation.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

pretty sure that ceased publication. Skiing Magazine just announced that it's going digital only. Reckon the writing is on the wall (and all over the ceiling too) for printed snowsports mags.

Freeze has not been published for a while. Powder is OK, I get it here but the subscription doesn't cost much in N America. Some OK articles and some great photos.
Others worth getting are The Ski Journal, light on editorial, heavy on porn.
Backcountry Magazine is also really good. Caters mainly for skiers / snowboarders but sometimes other 'backcountry sports'. Great articles on survival, avalanche tips etc. Really good gear guide and some cool stoke.

An interesting thought given the lack of support on another thread regarding paying for online newspapers.
Surely it depends on what you use a snowsports mag for? I suggest anyone just publishing pretty pictures or "rad riders" (is that still a word? ) are a thing of the past given the digital age and the internet where such images are now easily accessible. But well written articles (rather than advertorial) will always be of interest in the versatile medium of mags. The death of the printed word has, IMHO, been greatly exaggerated.

Tiger2, yeah, but the economics of a daily national news organ are entirely different from a niche seasonal snowsports mag.

Maybe we should have a nice glossy Snowheads Monthly Mag

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Me too. Who would want to edit the amount of expert opinion and insight on here to be able to squash it into a magazine
