OK, got me in the mood. A short break to hunt down a couple of Beck/peroni in the pub, then the rest of the day organising some skiing for next season.

Fantastic picture, but it gets me thinking. Why is it acceptable to drink and ski/board? I am guilty, but when you think about it, its crazy. At least cars have a.b.s., srs, etc. if you drink drive, but what do skis or snowboards have when you could be losing control at 30mph and falling towards another human being thats not surrounded by a metal cage. Contentious reply but the photo got me thinking.
Ps Wish I was in the Alps drinking beer watching it snow.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

willow 15, i think like with any drinking followed by activity - you drink only as much as you feel safe drinking - drinking excessively whilst STILL skiing/boarding IMO is as bad as anything else! A friend was telling me about the bar sat at the top of the last run into Val D, saying it was completely lethal at the end of the day... I tend to save any serious drinking for once i'm off the slopes... hopefully right at the bottom!
You know it makes sense.

MoodyFFS, are you by any chance referring to the craziness that is la folie douce? i avoid passing it at all costs from 1230 onwards.
it's good to enjoy the occasional evening bevvy after a particularly good day on the slopes. for my own safety, i tend to enjoy those in the bars at the bottom of the slopes though!
BobinCH, The lighting and focus on that first shot is just outstanding - its a well seen picture too.

BobinCH, even more miraculous you are married to a Scottish lass who hasn't got myroundaphobia, result!
I'll bite then!
This idea that Scottish people don't buy their round is absolute nonsense. Having undertaken an intensive 5 year study into the matter whilst at university I can conclude that it is in fact quite the contrary. In my experience it is the English wallopers who need more than a slight prompt to put their hand in their pocket resulting in for all parties involved. The Welsh seem to be fine.
The rules are well defined gentlemen, If x punters enter the bar and one of the group buys x pints then there will be x rounds of x pints. If round x+1 is bought then there will be a minimum of 2x rounds. This does not seem to be fully understood south of the border.

Love it! who am I to argue with someone who has devoted so much of their life (5 years of intensive research) to the study of this complex subject. I take it all back!
