Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Wrong size bindings?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi.
Help me out here, Im a virgin Snowboarder and my son is getting into boarding.
Hes bought a board and bindings off ebay but the screw holes in the board are 80mm apart whereas the bindings are smaller.

Are there different size bindings to boards?
Can I get a diferent circle piece for the bindings or does he need to get a different set of bindings?

Sorry if these sound easy questions to you guys, but any help is really apreciated.
I could post a photo if that helps.

binding holes are set in rows about 40mm apart - usually a row of eight. the holes in the bindings are usually set in a square pattern with a weird extra set so that you can put them on a trianglar pattern (for burton boards).

try this - see if you can see a set of holes on the bindings which would give a square of 40mm. drop screws in to the "middle" hole in each run on the binding plate. then try holding that over the board - it shoulkd all make sense now........... hopefully.

if not do you have a local shop/slope - try taking it there and begging.

You might have a Burton board, and a binding that only has a traditional 4-hole pattern?

i.e. the board looks like a bit like this.

Is that what you've got, or similar?

If you're mixing and matching Burton kit and non-Burton kit you might be able to get a baseplate ("circle piece") from the binding manufacturer that will fit.

Hi
The board holes are slightly different -
There are 2 curved rows of 4 holes and 2 middle rows of 4 holes. 80mm apart.

The bindings are the same as your sketch at 40mm apart.

I can get 2 of the 4 holes aligned with the board but thats all, which probably isnt enough.

Will take it down to the local shop and see what they sugest.
Thanks for your ideas.
Its really apreciated.

 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
Sounds like a really, really, really, really, really old board with inserts for some of the baseless bindings which were around in the mid-90's.
