Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What do you mean, "Anyone tried it?"

It's a Wii balance board with the Family Ski game. 3 years old I reckon.

It's a great laugh. Don't know whether it does anything for the right ski muscles but I certainly work up a sweat on it.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Tiger2, that's the "Family SKi & Snowboard" game - just over a year old. "Family Ski" is just over two years old.

I went to NEC's lab in Tokyo in 1994 where they put me on a ski simulator that (though I've not tried the Wii) probably gave a much more effective and life-like response. I remember feeling speed, acceleration, turning etc etc. because the skis were mounted to give feedback. It was pretty astonishing.

Couple all that with 3D video - this one has been released by Red Bull in the past 48 hours and is well worth a view ...

... and maybe the reality will get closer. Obviously it requires 3D glasses, but you can sweep the mouse over the '3D' setting at base of screen. Select 'Left Image Only' for 2D. Still worthwhile!

I guess full simulation of skiing - which must be possible to very realistic levels now - is a question of matching cost of production to what consumers would pay.

Has anyone found a really good simulator in an amusement arcade or similar?
