Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just shelled out for a new pair of Salomon Tornado Ti PL's in 173. I tested a pair of these 2011 babies last season by chance and they were great. Smooth as you like and grip, grip, grip, grip ....

Scot_Ski, thanks. I just Googled it and that looks like the one Jon got me using when I went for a lesson. It was either that of the Ski Man Ergo Razor? SpyderJon, which one was it?

Cheers

Kersh, not sure it matters what angle the edge has as the planer only takes off the sidewall of the ski above the metal edge allowing the files/diamond files to sharpen the edge without being hindered by the topsheet.

Scot_Ski, I thought there were 2 different types of sidewall planer? One which is for flat edges and one for round edges? The one I used with Jon had a round blade on the tool. The Kunzmann you have is like a flat block right?

I'll need to buy one for sure, the diamond iles etc. ain't much good without it. just want to make sure I get the right one.

Kersh, you're right, we used the Ergo but I don't sell it as it's over priced & a lot trickier to set up than the basic Kunzmann tool. The rollers also get clogged up as well.

The basic Kunzmann one wil be fine for you. Loosening the screw holding the blade allows it to be rotated for using either the flat blade or the rounded corner. You want the rounded corner for the Tornado.

Kunzmann's Pro sidewall stripper is the mut's nuts & waaay better than any other on the market but it's a bit pricey unless you're doing a lot of servicing.

spyderjon, ummm .... I can see me making another visit to you so you can show me how to plane the sidewall of my shiny new skis with the Kunzmann. It was scary enough with the Ergo on Mrs. Kersh's skis! NehNeh
