Well we're going to Plagne 1800 with our two girls Niamh 6 and Ruby 3 on the 26th of Feb. Is there any thing we should know about the place. Going with Crystal and saying at the chalet Dereriaz.

We were in that building over Christmas. There's free wif-fi in the ground floor "lounge" area which I didn;t know about, so that was a bonus. If you have kids you will be taking them to ski school - not sure where that is, but the easiest way to the slopes is actually to go *up* to the top and walk down the hill. If you go out of the ground floor you go downhill then back up again.
Coming home, if you tak thw blue (green?) run under melzes, take the windy zig zags and on the second (last) apex there's a footpath that you can ski down that takes you to within 100 yards of the chalet. Here are some notes I wrote for a mate going to Les Coches later this season:
There's more than enough skiing with just la plagne for just one week, TBH, I wouldn't bother going over to Les Arcs.
There are several very slow lifts : Inversens is notable, avoid it in cold weather! Looks like some nice off piste though under it, was just too cold for us to go back down there. We didn't do much off piste to be honest, Jane wasn't really ready for it, although we did get some LOVELY powder turns at the side of La Chiaupe, the black off the glacier Other slow lifts include Verdons sud out of champagny, but the alternative is several lifts in the other direction.
We saw loads of people off piste from the restaurant at the top of Roche de Mio, from the glacier you take the traversee chairlift and then carry on traversing, the off piste brings you down to the chalet de bellecote: what was more off piste down the valley is now the derechoir piste, although that wasn't open when I was there. If you look at the piste map you can see where there used to be pistes, which is where we saw people skiing.
There's a hugely fun little gun barrel ski track at the side of the "z" drag lift, very tight and quite fast though so get warmed up before you try it! turn left and double back on yourself when you get off the top, you'll see it on your left as you're going up.
Avoid the "les bois" "red" run down to CHampagny, it's boring. The "monts de la guerre" run is new, supposed to be nice, it was closed though so we couldn;t do it. Did Bozelet instead, that was really nice. Carella and Le Levasset blue runs are great for ripping down the piste, nice little gun barrel to skiiers left of the latter. Mont blanc back to your "home" village is a great long blue run. Getting out of les coches takes 3 consecutive longish chairs / bubbles, so you may want to go up the ski down to a slightly lower lift - takes longer going up but you get more skiing time. Go up plan bois, ski down to pierres blanches rather than taking bijolin, kind of thing. Le marmottes "red" run down to inversens is pretty crap too. The "sources" red run is great fun, proper foot out flat out mental
Scotty's bar in plagne centre (opposite biolley) does a very nice burger & fries, and the hot choc is quite nice. The hot chocolate in the Carlina (pisteside, belle plagne) is 3.50 but is the best we found. Avoid the restaurant at the top of the Biolley chair, the people leaving said the coffee was not good at all and the owner was very rude to them.
There's a picnic room at the top of the melezes chairlift out of plagne 1800 and another one at the top of the champagny bubble. The picnic area at the top of Roche de Mio is outdoors, so avoid if cold
this site is great http://www.perso-laplagne.fr/index_ENG.html for general stuff (and a good piste map) and this thread for off piste routes to think about

Haven't been there for years, when we stayed in Belle Plagne, some way above 1800. Seem to remember most days starting with a ski down to L'Arpette or the Bellecote gondola. I also recall enjoying the descent to Les Coches, but the return up the chairlifts was rather tedious. Maybe it's better now.

Boredsurfing, anyone know where La Caisse is in 1800?
I'm out on a TO chalet holiday later this month and travelling looser class no doubt we won't get there to 14:30 or something similar, but I was hoping for a quick hour on the planks in the arvo. Would help to know where to by the pass from when I get there. Going to buy the week one in advance just to look at the face of the rep on the bus when he's out a few euro...

La caisse as in the bank machine? very top of the village, between the two bus stops. There's a ticket office in the tourist ino place on the top floor of les marmottes, and another where you get on the slopes at that "apex" of the road through the village. The drag lift in 1800 is free, and at time they weren't using the pass reader on the melezes chairlift. We got into town about 13.30, we took the free bus up to plagne centre then the tele metro up to aime la plagne and skiied back down, using some of the free dage lifts for a little circuit or two

Out in 1800 on Sunday, what are the conditions like there? We are with the world famous Alpine elements in chalet collett..... bit nery, but it was dirt cheap so expectations are not great as it is.
