Has anyone used the Translate option in the Google task bar ? I've used it a few times on foreign websites where they have no english language option and found it a fantastic tool. However, I nearly soaked the keyboard in coffee, genuinely laughing out loud at the following translation on an Austrian hotel site:
D. My children still eat the meals, how can I do for meals?
R. Our kitchen is organized for the needs of smaller children. If you need special products (eg baby food, cream of rice, etc.). There must be those supplied by customers.
D. There are problems if we eat our children before us?
R. No problem, after 12 hours and 19 hours, warning in advance, it is possible to eat your child.
Made me chuckle, but strangely it also put me off the hotel.

Translating to and from foreign languages has been fun for a long time before Google got into the art. Googling for "funny signs in foreign countries" finds such gems as: http://www.fuzzydog.com/mscfunnysigns.htm

Did anyone see a review of a Kinderhotel in Austria in the FT at the weekend? I think it was in Serfaus. Apparently there was a lost of activities circulated at breakfast in German and English. The writer's family decided to give the activity at 11am described as 'Martin tinkers with your children' a miss.

achilles - sorry, you're right it should really have gone in the apres section as the only thing it's got to do with skiing is that it relates to a ski hotel.

I know this is an old thread but I was reminded of it by this section of the "Residence Regulations" where we are staying in Samoens this week:
"Pets should be kept on a leash in the residence and in the surroundings. They must respect the quiet and pleasant environment. Bags of dog excrement are available at reception."
