Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tignes summer skiing

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just tried to check the prices for day passes at Tignes and the web site says ... "Half Day Pass (starts from 10.30am)" so can't we ski before 10:30 ? I may have missed something but I couldn't see it.

Is Tignes in the summer similar to LDA - a lot of the glacier is used by race teams ?

I may be wrong but I think the Tignes half-day pass is usually for afternoons, in normal season from 1 or 1.30 onwards. Summer skiing starts and finishes earlier, hence the "afternoon" starting at 10.30am.

Edit: just checked and it seems that's the case, check this link for full price list.

Anyone know on the subject of summer skiing at Tignes, is the Leisse open at the moment, is it pisted or is it bumped up? I haven't been up there in summer so I don't know if the Leisse is part of the bargain or not. It seems to suggest on the piste map that it is. Thanks Very Happy

VolklAttivaS5, the Leisse is open if the snow conditions are good enough, but closed if not.

rob@rar, thank you, I appreciate it is only open when the conditions are good enough, I was hoping that someone like stewartwoodward who might be in Tignes as I type, might be able to tell me if it's open at the moment.

VolklAttivaS5, ah, sorry. I'm not out there until next month. I don't think Stewart is out there at the moment.

Does anyome know what the Tignes glacier is like at the moment ? We are heading there on Thurs 22nd (to Les Melezes).

We have been to LDA in the last 5 summers and the glacier there can be variable, last year it was bad. Mind you the town is good.

Looking at the Tignes website this morning it doesn't look like Leisse is open, hover over the lifts on the interactive ski map and it shows what's open, looks a lot better than last year as I remember it.

What's it like typically there in late October, how much open, conditions, etc? I've never been summer (or should that be autumn) skiing before but I'm taking a 3 day trip at October half term with my daughter.
