Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Flaine Lift Pass for Beginner

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

Looking at booking to go to Flaine in January. One of the poeple going is a total beginner to snowboarding (will be having lessons), and the TO recommends getting the lift pass for them in resort as there are aparently beginner passes avaliable, but I have failed to find any details of this online.

Does anyone know if such a thing exists in resort (and the price?), or are there enough free lifts to keep a beginner ocupied for a day or two?

Thanks!

There is a free chair lift (pre) that goes across the front de neige, there is also the telebenne which is a lobster pot type lift and a rope tow near the base of grand vans. If they are a total beginner that will keep them occupied for 1 or 2 days depending on how fast they progress

You can also buy a electronic points card, for the next few days, using a lift uses up points, 12 points is 10 euros last season, 40 points 28 euros etc. Small chair lift is 2 points, bigger is 10 points etc.

hope that helps

Hi

We went to Flaine last Jan with our 2 children for their first ski holiday. They used the free lifts for the first few days and then their instructor would tell us where they were going on a day by day basis so that we could buy the right number of points for them. This worked out a lot cheaper than buying them a four day pass. We were able to top the card up daily if they needed extra points.

We had a great time there and would really recommend it.

btw we used the international ski school and they were very good. The kids loved their instructor and want to go back next year

Jonnyboy, as the others have said, don't buy the beginner a lift pass wait till the instructor tells you to get one, or buy the top up card, I have an apartment in Flaine & ski it a lot 5 weeks this season alone, as for Ski lessons go with ESI (International Ski School) if you are going for Private lessons for the beginner ask if you can have Théo de La Soujeole, he is a good friend of mine & is a brilliant Snowboard & ski Instructor great fun and often takes the beginners in both Ski & Board both privately & group lessons. if you want more information PM me.

Have a great time in Jan, I am back in the Grand Massif in 3 weeks time, & can't wait Twisted Evil
