Poster: A snowHead

Trying to sort out a transfer from either Geneva or Lyon to LDA. Are there any recommended companies to use?
It would be for 7-8 people, wasn't thinking of hiring a car as I would assume it would cost far more for something big enough.

Public transport - bus to Grenoble, further bus direct to 2Alpes.

Or if your flights don't tie well with the local buses to L2A I used Ben's Bus in January and it was great

Not sure I really fancy getting 2 buses with luggage and skis for 8 people
Can't get a flight from Manchester or Liverpool to Grenoble for cheap, might be able to do Chambery though.

Scottland, don't discount buses - they're not what you think! They are coaches and offer an excellent service as well as being cheap. A group of 5 of us used them in March no prb at all. Ben's Bus is good and easy, but a lot dearer (£45-50) return per person Grn airport to LDA.

Altibus seem to do a return trip for €40 euros, but their website doesn't seem to work very well. Has anyone used or heard of them before? I found them through the 2alpes.com website...

Geneva is a long way, Chambery is a lot closer but does have issues with closing in bad weather! Lyon is still a long transfer, Grenoble is easily the the closest (hour and half tops). Plenty fly toGrenoble from Birmingham, sleazyjet, bmi baby and more. You'd do better having an extra hour or two on the M6 than an extra four or more hours around the alps!

Scottland, try this one http://satobus-alpes.altibus.com/ or http://www.transisere.fr/. I'm fairly sure the latter is the site I booked through earlier this year.. The tickets turned up within a couple of days of booking online. It cost us about £10 return from Grenoble railway station - it was bus service number 3030 which had 4 stops in LDA, the tourist office at the entrance to the resort area, the post office, the bus shelter in the centre by the Lutins hotel and the depot :LES 2 ALPES - AGENCE VFD (VENOSC)
I also read the OP as Grenoble not Geneva . I would not use Geneva for LDA. I would only voluntarily use Chambery midweek as on a winter Sat it's carnage - far too many planes, just two luggage carousels which are in the main arrival/departure hall and as has been said above, susceptible to weather problems. I believe crew need specific clearance to fly into it as well, so delays can be compounded by not having the right crew available.

Thanks for the info re: Chambery. I think I'll cross that of the list, don't want any hassle! Reason I'm not thinking about Grenoble is that it's about an extra 90mins to the Airport (which is already 90mins to Man/LPL) - also from past experience it's a PITA to get a minibus to take us.
At the moment, Lyon is looking far more likely - but it's about a ~3hr transfer? I can rent a 9 seater for about £400 + fuel, so Altibus is still cheaper - I think they're not taking bookings until 1st Oct however.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

162km of which 90 on motorways, two hours and five minutes, peage 9,60€, fuel 15,16€. More peage than that for a minibus, obviously, a look at AREA's website should tell you how much.

Not looked it up but having sat in Grenoble for several hours waiting for the backlog to clear after the heavy British snowfalls Teeside airport kept appearing on the departure boards. You might have to pour through several budget airlines websites but I'm sure a Grenoble flight could be found from there.
