Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ricklovesthepowder, Did you manage to get to Cairngorm?
We got there the week before you were planning, what a surprise that place is, the only thing was how busy it was(Easter half term). That feckkin funicular is a PITA and takes forever. I know there are T bars and Poma's but they get to be a bit of a drag (no pun intended) when your on a snowboard. That place certainly could do with a chair to the top. Evil or Very Mad

Tiger2, We managed to work out quite quickly that after lessons in the afternoon my wife would do a bit of rec. with her new ski school mates at the same level (and speed!!!!), myself and some others would take the kids off and do some blasting. I did have to loose the snowboard in favour of skis in the afternoon just to keep up my six year old missile Twisted Evil

In a word, no i didnt. Things just didnt work out for me, lots of reasons really. Instead we went to the scottish borders for the weekend. Lovely cottage we hired, cheap aswell. Had a lovely drive out up to tella and meggett reservoir on the saturday, stunning road and some amazing places up there. there was even snow on the highest slopes but nothing to get that excited about.

Just snow patches left now though. In summer, I sometimes walk from my house across the the hills to Talla & Megget. They're nice places to wild camp out of a rucksack and to cook a freshly caught trout wink In winter, I've skinned & skied a few of their surrounding hills. The Tweedsmuir to St Mary's Loch road is a 100% 'snow chains only' one in winter conditions though.

As for whether it's been a good season, as I'm skiing tomorrow & Monday, I'll not pass final judgement yet.

wow didnt know you were from there. We stayed at tweedsmuir cottage, about 1/2 mile past the turn off for the reservoirs. Lovely little place. I can imagine that road in the winter, some very high bits on it, about 450 metres in a few places! Next time im heading up that way i will give you the nod if you fancy doing something?
