Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Oh, and the web site is http://www.swisswintersports.co.uk btw. The reason I ski so much is that I am semi-retired and live in Switzerland. Lask skiied - yesterday, Brigels.

Bit of a pattern there, me thinks. My wife loves the place (and so do I!). Might try and get a long weekend 1st week in April, but not to Serre Chevalier (promise) Smile

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?
Hmmm, ski most years but its nearly always been Pennine stuff

Going on seasons:

1975 - Teesdale Ski Club (onwards but rarely 80's to closure, Weardale being longer and having proper lifts)
1977 - Weardale Ski Club (onwards, maybe missed 2 or 3 seasons since but atleast one day a year!)
1979 - Harwood Ski Federation (onwards but extremely rarely)
1979 - Cairngorm (and then not until early 2000s, then every third year or so)
1980 - Campitello (2wks)
1981 - Mayhoffen (2wks)
1988 - Kitzbuhel (1wk)
2000 - La Plagne (1wk)
2004 - Nevis Range (onwards, prob every third season for a day or two)
2005 - Yad Moss (onwards, most years)
2008 - Morzine (1wk and 1wk)
2010 - Glencoe (1day, not back until this season)
2010 - Allenheads (only once on a round of skiing all Pennine tows in one day)
2013 - Glenshee (onwards)

Best season since the 80s was 2009/10 - 39days between Yad Moss, Weardale, Cairngorm, Glencoe, Nevis and Allenheads. About 33days on Pennine tows. Current season 36days todate: 22 Glencoe, 8 Glenshee, 3 Nevis, 2 Cairngorm and 1 Pennine Tows.

Same here! Unfortunately, listing all the trips makes me think that I should be a better skier than I actually am....

Week long trips:
Livigno x 2 (fun place to learn; apres ski great too)
Sauze D'oux (very little snow when we went - mostly ski-ed in Sestriere instead). Another party town.
Westendorf (again; poor snow in the year we went)
Les Deux Alpes (enjoyed it more pre-children than when we returned as a family)
Chatel (main memory is spending an inordinate amount of time on buses)
Chamonix (great ski-ing but not the most convenient with kids)
Flaine x 4 (perfect for a mixed group of experienced skiers and kids in ski school)
Avoriaz (soul-less but very convenient)
Kaprun (lots of character but back on buses to get the slopes)
Loon Mountain, New Hampshire (enjoyable - not really enough ski-ing for a week so we did a few side trips)
Courcheval (first trip to 3 Valleys; completely smitten)
Samoens (a nicer base for the Grand Massif than Flaine....but not as convenient)
St. Martin de Belleville (another great 3 Valleys base)
La Clusaz/Grand Bornand x 5 (friends ran a chalet there for a while - lovely town but disjointed ski area)
Orelle/Val Thorens x 6 (we loved the 3 valleys so much we bought an apartment as close to the slopes as we could afford)
Courmayeur x 2 (another favourite - loved the area and the town)
Hinterglemm (would very happily return)
Warth (great for late ski-ing)

Side day trips to Zell am See, Serre Chevalier, Alpe d'Huez, La Norma, Bretton Woods, Cranmore

Well, like anywhere it depends more on the snow conditions than anything else.

I went once Hell Froze Over to show the skiers how it's done, but I've not been back since. It is a fine place.
At that time I don't think they'd named anything and you could just ride where you wanted on the face, which I expect it still the case.
I guess I kind of know how to snowboard so I'm not terribly good at noticing how hard things are supposed to be, but the hike up was the hardest thing at that time/ altitude.

It's different from Chamonix. When I went it was much quieter and there were fewer silly people around, if you see what I mean.
The St Bernard was kind of funky and the place to stay. It seems to be still there.
