Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello all,
My first set of skies have just arrived Very Happy K2 Apache Recon bought in an end of season sale. As I have never owned a set of skies I need some advice. First on storage how and where (eg is the loft too cold), the notes with the binding state they should be stored with bindings closed, I take it this would be when a boot is locked in. Second what do i need to do before sking on them next season, do new skies need to be waxed etc before use Puzzled . Thanks in advance for any advice.

Can I just jump in with a small pedantry point? Skies are what aeroplanes fly in, skis are what you use for sliding down snowy slopes.

There. I feel better for that. Very Happy

RONSTER, A great set of Ski(e)s you got there. Smile

Worst thing about storing in your loft is if it's damp the edges can rust up - so put a little bit of wax or zardoz on them. Try not to use oil as can damage the base.
Don't worry about the binding or storing them with your boots in them.
Yes they do need a cleaning hot wax and then waxing up before your first usage.

I don't know your ski level but the best way to enjoy recons is to ride them hard, I know as I ski on a pair to. Very Happy

I keep all mine in the the downstairs wc, boots too, works a treat, drives the wife mad though. I would definitely try to keep the boots away from lofts/sheds/garages - mice love the liners

I thought the loft was considered a poor choice due to some extreme temperature variation? Or are we now using the loft as a hot box during the summer?

I prefer to use my skis, so storage is only ever a temporary solution: currently in the bedroom as we have guests in the toy room.

I refer to comprex though, one pair is not the issue. It's where to keep the rest of them...

Correct ski storage,
Skis should be easily accessible in case of emergencies; such as the morning

Here is a panoramic view (loose use of the word) of my ski storage facility
I also store myself here at night.

Going back to the new ski purchases, so it's necessary to have them waxed - they don't normally come waxed?
