Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I think I am on the verge of divorce............over the past few months I have been amassing piles of skis, it is like some sort of disease, I am sure most people must go through it when they get well and truely hooked but I just don't seem to be able to stop myself. I see, I buy there is not the usual off/distraction switch and the credit card is melting.

My problem is greatly hampered as I am also buying skis for some mates but I find I just want to keep them all to myself, well anything that is around my size anyway.

I need to re-evaluate my priorities and trim back to 1 or maybe 2 pairs of skis - 12 is excessive by anyones standards!

Can you help me whittle down from a ski for every eventuality to a ski for all circumstances? Please don't mention volkl mantras............. I was talking about them in my sleep last night which I was later informed was the final straw Shocked

I'd like a twin to do it all, previously I was mainly on groomers but now will be at least 50% off piste and probably a whole lot more if the weather permits.

What is recommended? If I can't afford new skis I will look 2nd hand or ex-rental.

Also found out yesterday that you can ski in August (happy days) beach holiday now cancellled.

Ideal twin height is 177 -179, ability is all pisted in all conditions, presently learning freestyle and mogul techniques, succesfully managed my first couloir in chamonix last month Smile. Looking for a better skier to teach me how to huck and envisage a whole lot more powder and off piste skiing in future.

I was worried, but last night had an epiphany which I think may solve the problem............

I need SKI PORN!

Just ordered a few vids which I am hoping will do the trick..........wonder if i'll have to watch them alone whilst waxing and polishing - skis Toofy Grin

Can anyone tell me where I can get a copy of claim, the greatest ski movie ever made? tried many online stockists but all appear to be sold out.

4 titles on order so that should help with the cravings for the time being.

I now have more niches filled than my ability or that I can ever realistically use - How do you go about choosing your holiday quiver when I still haven't skied them all yet, (really was compulsive purchasing). The only snow near me is in the fridge at castleford. Puzzled

Perhaps I should invite mates for a demo day and try to whittle down the numbers that way.

All suggestions welcome

I have a copy of Claim on my computer, not that it helps you. You can download 'In Deep' from iTunes.

 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
That Quiver has a load of overlap, loads of all mountain mid fats and not much range to the bigger end.
You have loads of skis you could ski any where on.
Keep your favourite (to ski on not to make love too wink ) get rid of the rest.
Keep the GS ski if you want an out and out piste ski.
If you really want a powder ski buy one, see the dedicated powderski thread.

Funnily enough, that was the first thing that went through my mind.
but you should clear the clutter first. Although I think kiwi1 has a couple of pairs of Redeemers left if you want a fat rockered powder ski.

I was admiring a pic of some in ARV's thread, way too much ski for me at the moment though on all counts size, price, ability to use wink

Will there be a complete chasm in design and performance between a 2 year old powder ski and a 2010 model?

I should probably type more often whilst drunk - re-read thread this morning and gave myself a giggle.

ledge, I thought they would be way too much ski as well but in reality they ski extremely short on anything hard and when it is soft you don't notice the extra length.

Keep the GS ski for a proper piste ski, keep the Karmas for everything else, sell the rest and buy a proper fat ski for proper off-piste only days
