Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Toll booth passenger needed for rapid Bourg trip.

Hello !

I'm driving a new Navara Adventura (luxury 4x4 arabian spec truck) down to Bourg St. Maurice next Friday morning (5th March) on my own (it's staying down there, so it's a one way trip).

I'm on the chunnel at 8am and need to make bourg by late afternoon, so non stop and a rapid journey. As it's a right hand drive and my arms are not 4ft long, so I'm looking for a passenger to deal with toll booths etc. If you've driven in France solo before, you'd understand !

Anyway, I'm offering to pay for the fuel if you pay the tolls (approx £60 ish I believe ?) When you want to leave Les Arcs it's an easy train ride home or bus to the airport.

Plenty of room for skis and boards etc in back.

Nutters, nervous passengers and people who want to sleep for the entire journey need not apply !

Let me know as soon as poss if interested.

jph123, I know it's probably too late for this time, but look at Sanef telepeage (badge). Wouldn't be without it in France. Think it was €10 + small refundable deposit.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Expect to pay as below at car prices.

A4 Reims to APRR 105.7k €9.10
A43 St Quentin F. Barriere to Chambery Nord 67k €10.20
A43 Chignin Barriere to Ste Helene Barriere 36.0K €4.90
Total €72.50 each way

Diesel last Sunday was €1.13 in Calais, around €1.18/1.20 on the autoroute and €1.03 in the Hypermarket at Albertville.

If you don't get any takers I'm told a long handled pair of BBQ tongs will at least help you at the take a ticket barriers, for paying go to a manned one and get out and run round, with practice it'll be quicker than trying to strerch across!

Good luck!

I like the tongs idea ! Thanks for all the other advice too. I think I have a willing passenger now ..... but still might get the tongs in case they decide to sleep !

I did several journeys right down to the Med and back with just my daughter and me before she was old enough to assist. I must admit though that the stretching across from the drivers seat technique wasn't at all comfotable.

Ok, tongs bought on ebay for £1.99 ...

Current passeneger option has just highlighted that "sometimes" they can get car sick .... goodbye, don't call us, we'll call you.

And finally as I've been corrected, (and rightly so) that tolls are more than I'd guestimated, I'm going to keep it simple - I'll pay the tolls and I'm just looking for a £60 fuel contribution.

Ok, that's that all updated. If anyone is keen. Let me know, can pick up from M5 / M4 on way to chunnel.
