I don't have a video, but I'm sure it would have looked good, especially if someone lent me the Top Gear production team but these tracks were laid down on skiboardthingies and look perfectly acceptable to my untrained eye (they start on the shoulder on the top right).

davidof, really nice tracks - but I would still want to see them do it. There has to be a bit of style and grace to skiing/boarding/sliding - don't you think? Still a mystery why so little video apparently exists.

Selling, I made no mention of selling, almost couldn't give the damn thing away, The gardener ended up having it, still moans to this day about it not fitting in his front garden.
Might have to get another one soon as the investment into the flying car concept hasn't taken off yet

I find the lines on the Pershing 115' more appealing but could use and extra 15'

i don't like the word snob, but i am extremely unsympathetic to learners (thats learners outside of greens blues and reds where they should be)/ gapers/ retards etc etc and have no problem letting people know it either...i am just back from morzine, and after skiing only cham (many times) and vail over the past 4 years, i was astonished at the retardedness on show...its just that i had forgotten how bad places like this were...i wasn't able to get my dukes mounted anywhere in morzine either (which says it all really) so it was very difficult to get myself away from the lift lines, where high gaperness was abundant...but after day 2, i had had enough and treked anywhere safe and accessable for me, my neice/ neph and oh could go...anywhere away from the beaten track, and just closed my eyes and turned the ipod up in the lift lines....

Dude, you went to Morzine so expect what you got.

most of the trashing of Bulgaria and Andorra seems to come from people who have been there. Yes, there are a fair number of apparently expert freeride types (definitely not me) some hardened tourers (not me) and some BASI-you-have-to-angullate-perfectly types (most definitely not me). But I see lots of us recommending gear from Lidl, Aldi and Takky Maxx, cheering when there is a new convert to sliding etc etc. And sorry - until you post a link to a video of somebody on Blades/ski-boards who does not suck (a standing challenge which none of the experts in that area have met yet) I think it is fair for people to say they suck. For everyone willy-waving about their ability, there are others being obviously too modest. |

The tracks posted above by davidof were apparently made on Wedze skis (the Decathlon ones, in the photo, very cheap 'cos boring black and white graphics, I know 'cos I bought some). Absolutely NOT the same thing as blades - and unlike most people in this thread I've skied on both. Most of us wouldn't be able to tell the difference (on a video) between a good skier on the Wedzes and a good skier on skis. Blades are a different animal.

As we get more experienced at skiing do we start getting a bit above ourselves because we know more about the kit, the places, the snow, the altitude, the bars, only ski resorts with reds and blacks, how to adjust your bindings, din settings, the best route from 'a to b' etc etc,.
Do we go from nice fluffy snowheads who want to learn more about our sport ..... into grumpy old skiers with a bias against anything except for skinning for three hours to hit some nice powder and turning our noses up against those with short skis, high street brands, resorts without gnarly off piste, Andorra/Bulgaria, cheap goggles, and dare I say it .... snowblades/skiboards |

As for ski snobbery, i reckon i've got less snobby as i've got a little better than i was (which was fairly terrible), given that I'd now consider myself an intermediate intermediate rather than an intermediate, and the aim of the next few years is to get better rather than keep pottering around. Snowheads must have worked well with this given my next holiday will be comprised of 6 full days lessons (must get away from intermediate intermediate to being able to ski not like a complete.....)

Just to help those that do not recognise their own ski snobbery
Definitions of snobbery on the Web:
The trait of condescending to those of lower social (skiing) status
A snob is someone who adopts the worldview of snobbery — that some people are inherently inferior to him or her for any one of a variety of (ski related)reasons. Often, the form of snobbery reflects the snob's personal attributes. ...

What is that total crock of nonsense. I guess the American can't pick on blacks anymore so they come up with some other crap to discriminate. Honestly it is just so infantile.
And just to display my own ski snobbery there is nothing more ridiculous than fat middle class white blokes from Engerlund using terms like Gnarly, Rad, Blower, Homie, Gaper, Dude, Maggot, Jong etc. They sound more retarded than those Armstrong and Miller pilots. Talk about Gaperific.
