Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

officerlog, I used Pers 'for 3 years including very bright conditions... good all round lens although they made you squint a little in bright sunlight. Now also have a darker iridium pair of goggles for brighter conditions. I'd always go for a flat light goggle first but have no experience of the VR28. Bumps your thread at least Laughing

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

officerlog, welcome. I got some Oakley Stockholms with Persimmon from Santa and they had their first outing to AdH just over a week ago - we had bright Sun till Thurs and driving snow Fri with minimal vis - I have no complaints with them and didn't feel they were too light for the sunny days. They're only my 2nd pair (and first "proper" ones!) so can't comment on other colours.

officerlog, Persimmon is too bright for me on sunny days, but other people found it OK.

If you were only getting 1 lense I'd go for VR28.

I've just bought the same goggle in VR28.

You could get a Persimmon lense as well - these are sold online for only £23.

officerlog, up until this year I had a pair of Oakley Crowbars with a HI-Persimmon lens which are great for me for weather in Canada 90% of the time. Last year though had a couple of really sunny, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky days, and got cracking headaches as lens wasn't dark enough for me. Couldn't wear sunglasses as the air was still bitterly cold and I needed my face covering, so this year got a pair of Splice with a VR28 lens for those sunny days. Had a couple of similar days again, and the VR28 was brilliant. No headaches, no squinting, and not too dark once the shadows started creeping in either.

I haven't skied in Europe for a few years, but do remember just wearing sunglasses instead whenever it was sunny as the air temperature was warmer.

I can also give a big thumbs-up to the Splice too, love my Crowbars but don't get the pressure on my nose with the Splice and like the fact the lenses are interchangable.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your hols!
