In that case the ability to ski breakable crust might be in there somewhere.(although some windcrust is difficult, most is not).
Not that I can be bothered to think about it.

I just realised the real percentages
100% of skiers wear ski boots that eiterh hurt or are custom fit
50% of skiers wear a helmet
40% of skiers like B2's
40% of skiers hate B2's
30% of skiers use snow tyres
20% of skiers have inner ski tip lead
10% of skiers have a sleepless night over the weather and if there is going to be snow
5% of skiers cant work out it will be busy during half term
1% of skiers... "LaRosiere"
0.01% of skiers can't understand why they are not at the olympics because they are better than Defargo
0.01% of skiers should be in the special olympics

Men never stand next to each other at urinals, and definately never, ever compare - there are certain rules of etiquette which forbid this from ever occuring.....apart from in minority bars which proudly display a rainbow flag. The aforementioned rules do not apply in such establishments (or so someone once told me, or I read it somewhere, or something..)

Poor F4S has come in for a load of stick for this. I think those who are just being rude would be better in the Apres zone.

65-70% of skiers can get down the average black in any style |
I'd say 70-80% of skiers wouldn't ever touch a black. I have no doubt that I'm likely to be in the bottom 10-20%, ability-wise, of skiers posting on snowheads (striving to catch up as quickly as I can, though - this year was the first time I felt I could go pretty much where I liked on the hill.). Equally, I'd have thought I'm in the top 25% of skiers in a large French resort. Remember, most people posting here will be on the first lift up the hill and nearly the last lift down.
Thinking back to ADH a couple of weeks ago
1. If the weather is nice there are probably three times as many people on the slopes as if it is not. Hence 66% of skiers don't really care about skiing.
2. Most people never venture high up the mountain. e.g. The ADH bowl is quite adventurous enough, a trip up to the top of Pic Blanc is far too adventurous.
3. Skiing is about the nightclubs, innit.
4. Green runs are packed; blue runs are very busy; red runs are quite busy; black runs are completely empty.
Most people don't ski black runs. At all. And never have.

The OP was, at best, speculation, and it looks like it took ages to construct - while the rest of the skiing world were watching the Mens Downhill. Should it REALLY be taken seriously??

Hey, here's an idea:
- 19234 registered snowheads
- assume c. 50% are sock puppets etc, and c. 2,000 are boarders, leaving c. 8,000 skiers (yes I'm making up numbers).
The obvious suggestion is that in order to prove his claim F4S should be in the top 80 skiers on snowheads, really in the top 30-40 since sH membership may be slightly biased downwards in average level (not many mountain locals)
But that would be too serious. What I'm REALLY suggesting is...a Chinese downhill of course!

Oh no, this is why people laugh at sites like this.
On the one hand people can't dress themselves for the mountains without an endorsement from internet dweebs, with regard to what helmet, gloves, googles or whatever they should have. The other side is that subjects get done to death and so people with anything decent to say get bored and do something useful with their time rather than post here. Then the whole thing descends into a chat site.
I can see why most of the top 10 posters have gone.

PinoP, this thread may be a bit sad - but your comment adds nothing
And in fact - of the top ten posters - only one has gone for good, 8 post regularly, and one intermittently.
Of the top 30 - 3 seem to have gone, and another 3 crop up only rarely.
So you might want to get your facts right before being such a plonker.

Fair point actualy, although I think this might very well reflect the fact that most skiers on the mountain are on their 1 or two a year holiday, I would guess that the majority of them will not have the fitness to ski blacks all day, so spend most of their time on blues/reds, and then do the odd black.
Oops, may have just wandered back on topic

frank4short, ignore the numerical and analytical philistines who have polluted your otherwise excellent thread.
I wouldn't necessarily agree with your %ages, but I like the idea. In fact, you could extend it by applying some confidence intervals e.g. "From the observations taken on [insert name of favourite black run] between [Time1] and [Time2] we can be 95% confident that the proportion of skiers who can tackle a black run with good style is between 25% and 35%".
We could also use a variant of monetary unit sampling to weight the results by the value of ski kit worn, or the weight of the skier. I think you've merely scratched the surface of the analytical possibilities here!

I'm starting to think I may be a fairly average British holiday skier. I tend to stay away from black runs because they often scare me. Not because I can't do them, I always seem to manage to get down without falling or losing control or even resorting to side-slipping, but I generally don't enjoy it. If it's too challenging it stops being fun and starts being a chore.
There are probably plenty of skiers like me, possibly even a majority. Happy cruising around on red and blue pistes and sticking to their comfort zone. I don't see why some of the clearly more skilled and fitter skiers have a problem with us. We're doing what we want and letting you lot do what you want.

And what sort of t***t are you? Very sensitive about the amount of time you spend on here, are you?
In my short time on here, you have to be one of the saddest and most pathetic posters, and I notice you always have to have the last word.
Be my guest, you can have it, as no doubt you will, although you have little to say of note, you must be one of those people who like the sound of your own voice.
