Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Return Easyjet: £67
Accomodation: Free (well you could argue it cost a LOT since I own the appartment!)
Lift pass £11/day (Average cost per day skied in the season for my annual pass)
Transfer: Free (lift from a friend)
Sandwiches up the mountain for lunch
Lessons: Free (my son is a ski instructor there)
Apres Ski: a cup of tea and a piece of cake on my balcony.

In all seriousness though I was SHOCKED at how much more expensive everything was in France last season (Chamonix, Flaine and Meribel were the places I visited) compared to Verbier. As a rule of thumb it was a 1:1 price (ie a beer costs chf 7 in Verbier, €7 in Meribel) while the FX rate is about 1.5chf to 1€

I have to say that's not my experience at all. I travel a fair bit to France (Chamonix mostly), Austria (St Anton mostly ) & Switzerland (Verbier mostly) and have found them pricey in that ascending order roughly, with Chamonix cheapest, St Anton middle & Verbier priciest by far IMHO.

For instance 2 years ago, a friend and I were staying in Verbier for 4 days & Chamonix for 3 in February. We were both looking at buying new ski gear (jackets and trousers) & after browsing in Verbier for a few hours one evening, spotted stuff we liked. I was all set to buy so I tried to get a discount from the store, I got a withering look, a lousy attitude and eventually a begrudging offer of circa 3-5% off only if I paid in cash. I was so put out by the arrogance and attitiude, I walked out of the store, never to return.

2 days later we both purchased in Chamonix, similar level gear for about 2/3's of the price of similar in Verbier.
