Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tignes to La Plagne Cross-Country. Anybody done it?

As the title says - does anybody have any knowledge of doing this? I've heard it's possible to ski cross-country to La Plagne or Les Arcs with a bus return to Val. Puzzled

A mate and I will be in Tignes this Sunday for a week. Whoohoo! Very Happy

Thanks for any info.

It's known as the "tour tarentaise", you can usually sign up with the ESF or other local ski school for a guided run. On the guided tour yo start in Val d'Isere, ski through tinges, off the back into La Plagne, then up through Les Arcs before your transfer takes you back. I wouldn;t necessarily count on it being somehting to do alone unless you are experience inback country navigation and are prepared to make your own way back - It'll probably mean a bus / taxi down to Aime, another transfer up to Bourg St Maurice and the a final one up to the Espace Killy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There are several Snowheads threads about the Tarentaise Tour. As I recall the section from Tignes to La Plagne (Champagny) involves a lot of skating or poling on flat roads, plus a mini bus ride to finish.

For example a recent one: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=57943#1395800
(Yes, there is some cross country track at that point and minibus after, but it is very scenic)

Craghopper,

Did you mean to say "cross country".

It is a trip you normally do on standard downhill skis. Probably for the one flat bit mentioned bysnowball, touring bindings would be useful, but about ten minutes poling takes care of that stretch anyway.
