Poster: A snowHead
|
We're in Les Arcs 1800, looking out of the appt at light winds, total cloud cover, and it's snowing!!!!
SF currently states that this morning we'll have:- some clouds, 30 kmph winds and no snow!
Hmmm.....

BMF_Skier, yes, same here. However, they did say there'd be snow later - just a few hours earlier, same weather pattern. And meteo France said the same thing, as did meteo chamonix. They all got it far wronger on Tuesday - which they ALL said was going to be sunny, until we went to bed the night before, but in the event it was very murky indeed and snowed a little. In my experience the forecasts have been less accurate this month than I've known them - turbulent weather, I suppose.
But yesterday was nice, wasn't it?

I find the 2 day forecast quite reliable throughout the season, ok there are some days they get wrong but give or take a few hours in general not bad.... used it for 3 seasons now to update clients..

Although I do look at Snowforecast.com and Metcheck, the local resort weather forecasts always seem a bit more accurate. It always amazes me how neighbouring resorts can have different conditions.

Metcheck has gone down the pan imho. Seen -37c and 300kmh wind forecast for here not so long ago. Saying that I think it was BBC that informed me it would be below 0Kelvin!
Snow Forecast has been reasonably accurate up to 3 days IME, although if there's a huge high stuck over Europe then the longer predictions stand a pretty good chance of being accurate (but also warm temperatures and no snow).

You're quite likely in luck - they've been wrong about most everything this month.

Boredsurfing, yes, that meteo france one usually is, but it hasn't been this year - and I've looked at it several times a day, and compared the forecast with what's happened out the window, since mid December. It's not meteo france's fault, it's just been that sort of weather.

Boredsurfing, I'm sure they look out all the time - and compare what they see to what was forecast. It's easy to be wise after the event.
