Bode Swiller, I'm not one to worry about damage but I'd wager this is pretty terminal. Mind I still did another run down stairway and then rode the piste back, quite entertaining to watch what was a pretty stiff board vibrate like mad once over about 20 mph and creak with every turn.
Hoping Norris got a photo of the impact, almost rode away from it except for the slightest hint of ar$e meeting ground

To trash a plank after 150 days - 5 months - use, is a result. I think I did it a bit quicker on a Cairngorm rock.

Swirly, ouuuuch! That looks like one hell of an impact. Were you landing a jump? I've hit some rocks pretty hard but never done anything approaching that....

As my friend says: skis are there to protect your feet against rocks. And I think he'd extend that to boards if pressed.
(reminds me of pictures I saw of a surfboard with a big shark bite chomped out.)

You know it makes sense.

bobinch, Barry's bowl, below and to skiers right of the higher entry couloir. He was going quite quickly but there was no obvious impact. Norris and I were (pleasantly) surprised he walked out of it.

gorilla, no obvious impact!? He must have thighs like Oak trees (or be a huge fat lad) to do that to a ski without visible impact.
Saying that he did look like he was panting a bit in that photo you posted of him approaching the top of Rosablanche.....
Seriously, lucky he did no season ending damage. It's only January and it gets better in Verbier from here on...
Last year April was best so pace yourselves lads!

bobinch, I wouldn't say no obvious impact: there was a horrific noise and I slightly sat down but nowhere near what you#d expect for the damage done. I was trying to do a big slash for the photo so basically turned quite aggressively on top of it, if I'd been going straight it would probably have just been a massive core shot alternatively if I'd hit underfoot then bye bye ankle. I rode down to the walk out thinking I must have done something but the board actually felt fine, it was only when I got to the bottom and took it off to check.
snowball, the rock looked a bit like a sharks fin.
RPF, think it's supposed to be snowy for the next few days, getting progressively heavier towards Sunday, might cover up those rocks a bit more

Swirly, Pretty decent war wound mate. Hang it above the fireplace when you get your remote mountain hut.
