Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can I use NikWax Down Proof for non-down kit?

I have run out of Grangers Proofer and want to wash and re-proof some kit. I have Down Proof in which I have for a down filled jacket. Is there any reason why I couldn't use the Down Proof for a normal insulated jacket and pants? I know you should use a special down product for down filled kit but is it the same the other way round? Thanks snowHead

It would be Ok, but I wouldn't bother using wash in product with insulated jacket & pants. Get the spray on stuff or don't bother at all, the insulation will suck up all the good stuff. Wash in 'proof' should only be used on shells. The down stuff you have is meant to be good for feathers, not sure that it helps more than a couple of tennis balls but hey-ho. Use it, then don't bother buying it again. Get spray on stuff in future then you can coat all your outerwear in the same product.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

ski, Paramo doesn't use a seperate insulation layer such as primaloft or down. It's fine with the wash in stuff... good kit too.

ski, Mostly... they do a couple of insulated jackets now... moisture repellant insulation layer so it won't absorb much of the proofing.
