Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowboard Leash -Compulsory in USA or not

 Poster: A snowHead

I am shortly off to Whistler and wondered if the wearing of snowboard leashes is compulsory in US and Canada? Can anyone advise?

I've used a board in Heavenly, and in Killington, without a leash. I wasn't aware of any compulsion to use one.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

i didn't use a leash in Heavenly and saw no signs requiring their use - but I also recall hearing that they are compulsory in some resorts. I keep one in my snowboard bag (it came free with some bindings) just in case a resort has such a policy.

I went to Whistler last year and did'nt use a leash. Nobody said anything and i saw no rules dictating that you should. Also i hired a board out there for the first few days and they certainly did'nt supply a leash with it, and it was an official Whistler Blackcomb hire shop..!

I bought my snowboard in Utah last season and the guy in the shop said no-one over there bothers with leashes - I boarded in Park City, Snowbird and Sundance without a leash and didn't get any abuse. Having said that if I saw a leash that fitted easily to my binding and was cheap etc then I'd probably buy one and use it at least on chairlifts.

First, Whistler is not in the USA Smile They're probably technically compulsory at Whistler, but I rarely use a leash and have never been bugged about it by them. I guess keep one in your jacket pocket just in case.

I've just come back from the states and I used a leash just in case my binding came off on the lift cos you know what Americans are like for sueing people.
