Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tignes v Les Ménuires - a few questions

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

Been searching around but can't quite find what I am looking for.

I've been a Tignes addict for many years but now thinking of pastures new.

Looking at Staying in Reberty 1850 and wondered what peoples thoughts were on:

1) The level of skiing. I like the off-piste at Tignes the steeper the better, but on piste, a few too many blue runs, how does this compare to Menuires/Val Thorens?

2) Lift queues any comparisons? Planning for 27th Jan - 12th Feb

3) Most importantly - any snowheads present during this time who'd like to hook up for some turns, or anyone looking to spend a couple of weeks getting those thighs burning?

TIA Very Happy

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Menuires/VT might be a little less 'blue' than Tignes, but imo there isn't a lot in it, they are very similar.

Queue wise I'd say 3v was a little more inclined to queues, although nothing horrendous?

Date wise I'm in neither early feb - happy hunting!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Been to Tignes many a time, went to Les Menuires for the first time before Christmas and this is my view.

1. Personally I think the skiing is pretty similar in Tignes to Les Menuires, there's a variety of blues and reds, and a couple of blacks in between, Leo Lacroix is a good long one back down to Reberty. Over on the often quieter site La Masses, there's a couple of brilliant blacks to try out.
2. Queue wise I really can't say as I visited both out of season last (Tignes in May and Les Menuires in mid December)
3. No unfortunately not myself Sad

I loved Reberty as well, we stayed at 2000, just round the corner from La Ferme du Reberty which is piste side and it really was a little haven from the 60's styling of Les Menuires, in fact we only went down to Les Menuires once, as everything you need is up in Reberty. Although from 1850 you'll have to hike up the road a bit to the restaurant and bar in 2000.
