Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hey guys I got my first pair of boots this year at Christmas and I am going to save up for my skis next year to hopefully take away on a holiday, but I was wondering when does all the new gear usually get released, do 2010 ski mean January to December 2010 or November 09 to March 2010 ie the ski season, Thanks

Tattie, what difference does it make?

It's not like cars which come with a number plate telling you how old they are..

OK so a real ski-spotter can go "ooh he's skiing on last season's graphics" but if you've just bought your first pair of boots are you really going to notice the difference between a '09 ski and the same ski from the '10 range - I doubt it...

Tattie, 2011 skis will be available for the trade ski testing next month, first orders in the shops from about August, with main deliveries October. Same with clothing.

Tattie, obviously up to you if you want to get latest model, worth remembering though that you are likely to get good prices on this year's models from mid feb onwards.
