Poster: A snowHead
|
In its weekly round-up of snow conditions and skiing around the resorts, PlanetSki.eu reports that the Swedish ski centre of Hemavan recorded a temperature of -40.8C last weekend:

Hemavan (which is new to me - any snowHead been there?) even has a website in English:
http://www.stromma.se/en/Hemavan/
This is where it is:
Hemavan: Google Maps
Interestingly, the resort says it's open from November to May, though it's pretty far north and must have very short daylight hours in the early winter.

Nippiest i've ever ridden is -32 in January at Lake Louise where people were getting frozen to the floor... Any advances?

Yes, Tremblant last January, -40c, cold, the piste was pretty empty though. Did make the rest of the holiday feel almost balmy between -10&-25. All the locals said it was freekish & that we should just go inside, 2 hours later we did. Kids still talk about it though, and they hardly complained as they couldn't or wouldn't be heard under the face mask (mandortory if you wanted to ski that day)

The Matterhorn Glacier was -27c a week ago! Add a bit for windchill at the top and it gets even colder
