Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Blizzard CXP Skis - Should I Buy them?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Snowheads,

I am looking for some advice on whether I should buy these skis. I have been toying with the idea of buying my own skis and saw these on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLIZZARD-CXP-SKIS-163cm-ALL-MOUNTAIN-PISTE-SIGMA-10_W0QQitemZ150405186626QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_SportsLeisure_Skiing_Skis_JN?hash=item2304d90442

They are Blizzard CXP skis and look as though they are in pretty good condition. Unfortunately, I have been looking on the internet and cannot find any reviews of these skis to see if they would be suitable for me.

I am an advanced skier of about 10 years with 1 trip away per year. I tend to stay on piste with the occasional foray into the powder and very little time in the park.

If anybody has a pair of these or any advice on if these are a good buy then it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Wardster00, how big are you?

Blizzard have made huge improvements in performance and quality both: these skis are from just before that happened.

Are they a good buy at that price --- how big are you?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'm 5 foot 8 and of average build. I'm thinking that if they go for around £50 it's as cheap as hire skis and more cost effective.

Wardster00, Unless you're ~150lbs or less, I'm thinking they're _at least_ 5 cm too short for you if you want performance on ice, at speed, or at high edge angles. 168cm if you don't like speed, 178cm if you do.
