Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Scott Mission binding position

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
have a pair of Missions in 183 and skiied on them for the first time at the weekend. I am about 6' and 200lbs and the bindings are are mounted so that the line on my boot (mondo 27.0) is about 2cm forward from the arrow on the side of the ski. The skis didn't seem to live up to the hype I've read - I had to sit back on them in the powder and they didn't seeem to want to carve, only go straight on on the piste!
Any ideas?

erm....move the bindings back to the line! Are they 2nd hand btw??

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes, they are second hand but the previous owner presumably thought that the bindings were in the right position for him! I would also like to know where the mark on the skis is supposed to be positioned in relation to the boot - compared to my Head Monster 75's in 177 the toe-piece of the binding on the Missions is some 3 inches further forward than the Monsters with their tails both on the floor.

pretty sure the line on your boot should line up with the arrow on the side of the ski....

Hairybiker, I had a pair of missions in 178 with rental bindings on, moved the position about a bit. As i have small boots i often mount skis a little forward, so i played around with it, but the missions forward were not good, really twitchy and further back was appalling. On the line (arrow) was very good, they did seem rather sensitive to binding position.

The scott factory tune was a bit dubious for on piste hard pack, they seemed to work best with 3 degrees side and 1 degree base. If they will not turn with the bindings forward, I would suggest the tune needs looking at.

The only thing I didn't like was the flappy tip on piste, but you got used to it

Looks like I'll have to get the bindings redrilled and plugged then, thanks for your replies.
