Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cairngorm [firstracks]
Well, there’s still snow all over the UK, and snowHeads have been reporting lots of skiing. The Scottish resorts have had the best snow for at least a decade, with record numbers of skers taking to slopes. Read on for more reports from snowHeads. In Wales, Mike Pow reports that “Today in the Brecon Beacons was as good as it gets. Anywhere.” surfski says that in Snowdonia “there is some very good snow near Llyn Ogwen at the moment with 2-4 feet of powder!” ...Moving on to Northern Ireland, Johnboy says “great view across to Aran which is gleaming white right down to sea level!”

In Scotland, roga reports that “Aviemore is pretty buzzing too and feels like a full on ski resort…” scoogly reports another10” of fresh snow on Cairngorm whilst Sofia agrees, saying that “they have 150cm on the upper runs”. lynseyf says of Glencoe “lovely snow”. deerman says that “There may not be as much snow at Glenshee, but what there is is superb too - if you can get to it!"

In England, the snowy conditions continue with paulmck giving a detailed (and amusing!) report of Dorking Massif and Foret d’Ashdown ‘ski areas’! david@mediacopy found some “decent coverage” in the Shropshire Hills, whilst Yad Moss have such brilliant conditions that they're looking at suspending ticket sales after 11am this weekend as the snow is so good - they’re expecting to be mobbed! A gem has been found in the hills of Halifax: “Conditions at Another World have been, and still are, quite incredible. We have had 3 fresh falls of snow in the last few days, which have just added to the already brilliant skiing” reports andy smith.

And the rest of Europe.

Ireland:
Reported chaos on the roads in Dublin too, but Peter Ross says that there’s “maybe another 10 to 15cm fresh in the mountains”

Austria:
cfc5mu0 reports “a few great powder days” in Hinterglemm-Saalbach with waynos reporting a few cm of snow in Schladming. DB reports that Southern Austria "has received up to 30cm of snow… and it’s still falling…" In The Arlberg thread, Stanton says that: “ski conditions were perfect again. Very few people on the hill” 2planks says that it “looks like its snowing at Innsbruck, Zurich and Munich [airports]”, whilst in Niederau Carolyn reports “snowing again … more snow expected over the next few days. Conditions excellent at the moment.”

In Switzerland:
And to Verbier where RPF reports “great days … the weather is staying cold and the snow is staying soft in most places albeit a bit chopped but great fun! Whilst in Zermatt skimark reports “Great skiing at start and end of week with some snow and flat light sandwiched in between.”

Italy:
In the Sella Ronda Mafketel is reporting 20cm of snow on the balcony, poor visibility and currently snowing!

Pyrenees:
“Heavy snow all day today down to about 400m. Forecast for even heavier snow tonight and into the early hours of the morning” says Ski Guide in Bagneres de Luchon. monkey has returned from Pas de la Casa, saying that the snow arrived on the 30th leaving excellent conditions.

Bulgaria:
Unfortunately Brovets still isn’t faring too well. mybrovets reports that “the gondola is only open for walkers” and with temperatures reportedly of 15 degrees, it isn’t too surprising, either.

Finally to France for this week:
Preobrahzenskoe says of Morillon “Thankfully over the week however there was a LOT of snow, several days of continuous dumps, plus all the cannons were working overtime when temperatures allowed.”
marcellus describes conditions as “OK”. He goes on to say “you can see several bits of ice base layer … [and] ‘pebble dashing’ across the piste”. In Tignes Mosha Marc had a text reporting “…deep powder…”, whilst thefatcontroller reports snow in Les Arcs. In Serre Chevalier snowangel says: “so so so so much snow!” redrunmarcus says that "if you want on piste skiing yesterday was probably the best it could get..." of Montalbert La Plagne. In Les 2 Alpes easiski says: “we've had a huge dump overnight and lots of local bus services are cancelled…” Pryle has returned from a New Year holiday in Alpe d’Huez and reported “snow conditions were great early in the week, loads of snow and sun…” In The Three Valleys offpisteskiing reports: “the sea of clouds which was forecast up to 3000m on the radio actually turned out to be at 1500m, perfect blue skies above and lots of light fluffy powder everywhere!” firebug says of Chamonix “Loads of snow but not much visibility … needed snorkels!” In Morzine “all we did all morning was ski fresh tracks” says snowandtrek whilst in Ste Foy stevomcd says that “The big snowfall at the start of this week caused a lot of natural slides which cleared out some of the existing instability”

Japan:
Mike Pow reports Hirafu is up to 5.4m of snowfall at village level, whilst in Myoko bensley reported "The last week or so we had 2m fall pretty much ...now its been snowing again for 2 days. Does it ever stop snowing here!?"

USA:
In Idaho, pinhead reports a light snowfall forecast for this weekend.

Trully amazing conditions in Cairngorms. 185cm on upper slopes, 90 cm on lower slopes. Shocked
They have never had such conditions since the Ice Age! (slight exageration due to double espresso)
Looks wonderful: cairngormmountain.co.uk

Excellent report - much of it from snowheads' own posts, nicely brought together.
